Drop Shipping is the modus operandi that allows an online retailer to purchase merchandise and sell to customers without first getting products upfront and stocking the items they market.

 

The retailer and the supplier come to a mutual agreement to purchase various merchandise and ship it direct to the consumer.  To make it simple a seller would display a product, either on a website online auction, classified ad or through a mail-order catalog, without having it in their personal inventory.   Drop shippers can send products and merchandise to your customers without you ever having to touch it.

This allows you to offer real products to customers and not have to worry about warehousing and inventory.

After a buyer purchases that product, the seller can go to the product sourcing website or call the drop shipper on the phone and place the order which will be shipped direct to the customer's postal address. An online marketer can purchase products at a very low price and then sell them at a markup. The seller profits after they pay the drop shipper for the product and subtract out any additional expenses what's left over is the amount they make.

In this way, the seller is responsible for the advancement of the products and the drop shipper takes care of fulfillment. As with any other personal online industry, one should do exhaustive research before setting out to sell to a market. Having a thirsty demand for a product is a key condition when searching for a goods to sell the internet. Just guessing what retail goods sell good is not smart thinking. It's best to do a market research analysis before choosing a product to sell online or through an Ebay auction.
